Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist and businesswoman. She's written 15 books, and she is co-founder the magazine The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington is a journalist, author, philanthropist, television host, and also the proprietor of The Huffington Post. Born in Greece Arianna Huffington immigrated to England with her family at 16 years old. While at Cambridge University she earned a MA degree in Economics. First foreign-born graduate to hold the position of president in the famous debate group The Cambridge Union, at 21, she was able to take on the role. Following after her college graduation, she became a well-known conservative syndicated journalist. In the years later, she founded The Huffington Post which featured criticism of the present political landscape. Her fame led to the recruitment of a number of famous contributors who shared their views on current events, politics and culture. Arianna gained fame in 2003 when she decided to run independently for the California recall election in order to succeed the then governor Davis. In addition, she was also the leader of a Detroit initiative that promoted fuel efficient cars. Forbes listed her as one of the "most influential female" in the media industry with her ranking at the 12th spot. Guardian placed her on their list of the 100 top media personalities in 2009. AOL acquired The Huffington Post from AOL in 2011. In 2012, she became the head of the media division at AOL. It was comprised of several AOL owned properties like Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. Elli was the son of Konstantinos, a journalist and management consultant. She was extremely close to her father. But it was the relationship she had with her mother which shaped her. Even as a young girl she demonstrated leadership skills which she is still renowned for. When she was 16 she relocated to the United Kingdom to pursue her education and was enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. During her college days she joined the college debating group Cambridge Union where she became the first foreign and third female president. In 1972, she graduated with the degree of Master in Economics. After the graduation ceremony, she was an editor of the critic's column and a television host. Additionally, she starred with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started creating books with the editorial services of Bernard Levin.
