April Ross

April Ross is one of the few female beach volleyball stars who have managed to win medals in several Olympics. Ross will compete in Tokyo to compete for her third Olympic medal, along with Alix Klineman, a first time Olympian. Ross's goal is to win her first Olympic gold medal. This may be the last opportunity she gets when she turns 39. The athlete is optimistic, however winning the gold medal is at hand. If we do our best or even if we play properly, I'm sure we can get that gold medal Ross declared on NBC Boston. Then I will also take some luck. Ross Born in 1982 and was raised in Costa Mesa California with her sister and parents, began playing sports in Newport Harbor High School. Ross participated in various sports while attending Newport Harbor High School. She competed in basketball and track in addition to her indoor volleyball achievements in her time as a college athlete. She was evidently the best player in indoor volleyball. According to her biography, she was a middle blocker, as well as an outside hitter in the volleyball court throughout her high school career. She was awarded The Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the Year in 1999 for her efforts. In 2000, she received the Orange County Athlete of the Award for volleyball. Ross Klineman and Ross began their collaboration in the year 2017, however, Ross was an established player on the beach long before. In fact, she won several major championships while playing with two other partners, one of whom is famous for her volleyball skills. She partnered up with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and also as a coach and Klineman. Kessy as well as Ross proved to be extremely successful on the world stage, claiming an overall world title in 2009. They also won the Silver Medal from the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) and Misty Maytreanor took home gold beating them to it. Ross Jennings was Walsh Jennings partner in fate as Maytreanor resigned. The duo went on to win the bronze medal in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics in the year 2016. Ross was a college player at USC Trojans prior to beginning starting her professional career. She played during high school, and before going to the beach for professional. The time she spent at USC was awe-inspiring. The Trojans were an All-American and Pac-10 freshman of the year in 2000. The Trojans were also able to make it to the Final Four. Her sophomore season was the year she was devastated by a personal loss, yet was recognized as an All-American. Through her final two years as a player, she steered the Trojans to the top of the mountain, winning successive national titles. For her part She established her spot as a legend when she won the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This award was given to the top female college player in the country. Ross studied internationally-related studies at USC. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, was never given the chance to watch her daughter turn into the beach volleyball's biggest star. As of 2001, when Ross was in her sophomore year in USC her mother passed away due to cancer of the breast. She holds her mom close to her heart. Margie remains a constant source of inspiration for her, both in and out of the water.
